My name is Becky Wiginton, and I am delighted to hold the position of school counselor at Dolores W. McClatchey Elementary. I have been a school counselor for 15 years in an elementary school setting. My goal is to directly impact all student’s social and emotional development through character education. I strongly believe that a person’s character will take them to higher levels of achievement and success in all areas of life. It is my passion to teach and model the importance of character qualities so that students strive to be their best self in all that they do. A few school counseling services provided are:
Classroom guidance lessons - delivering classroom lessons K-5 based on personal, social, academic and career competencies.
Individual student planning - assisting students with behavioral and academic goal setting.
Responsive services - meeting immediate student needs (counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, referral, peer mediation, information-providing).
System support - school-wide program planning and implementation, consulting with other professionals, coordination of various supports for students and families.
