J.A. Vitovsky Elementary opened on August 30, 2001. The school takes its name from Mrs. Jacqueline Ann Vitovsky, who served Midlothian ISD proudly as a school board member from 1996-1999. Her family stays faithfully involved with JAV, especially her widower, Ed Vitovsky.
When J.A. Vitovsky opened in the fall of 2001, it served all of the district's 5th and 6th graders with an average enrollment of approximately 930 students. J.A. Vitovsky opened as a PreK - 5th grade campus for the 2005-06 school year.
J.A. Vitovsky Elementary provides a multitude of specials services for students with unique needs such as the district's bilingual program, the Title I Reading Program (STARS), and the Title I Math Program (COMETS) - just to name a few.
J.A. Vitovsky serves a beautiful diversity of students. 62% Economically Disadvantaged, 40% Hispanic, 10% African American, 40% Anglo, 10% other. We honor our differences and celebrate what we share in common.
JAV provides students with a variety of extracurricular activities: Math Pentathlon, Chess Club, Student Council, Safety Patrol, Art Society, Mission Musicians, Hip Hop Club, and Rowdy Runners, just to name a few.
JAV PRIDE is the parent organization serving Vitovsky. Many activities are sponsored through the year to provide an opportunity to support a greater community of learning at JAV. Movie Nights, dances, and carnivals all provide entertainment and fundraising opportunities for the campus.
