MISD Celebrates its 8,500th Student

MISD Celebrates it's 8500th Student

Midlothian, TX, January 10, 2017 - Midlothian Independent School District enrolled its 8,500th student today surpassing demographers moderate growth enrollment projection of 8,472 students.

Hailey B. will attend 4th grade at Mt. Peak Elementary. Administrators surprised Hailey today with gifts and Nothing Bundt Cakes to celebrate with her new friends.  The family recently moved to Midlothian from Kansas. “We have friends here that told us how good the community is and we really like the size of Midlothian. It’s also close to the DFW metroplex where my husband works,” says Theresa, Hailey’s mom. Shannon Thompson, principal at Mt. Peak Elementary states, “We are excited to welcome Hailey to the Mt. Peak family, and are looking forward to getting to know her and her family.”

With an estimated addition of over 5,000 students in the next 10 years, Midlothian ISD continues to be a fast-growing district; therefore, the MISD Growth Management Committee has been proactive in planning for new students. In November 2016, Midlothian voters passed a $268 million bond package that will provide new schools to manage growth, renovations to existing schools, up-to-date technology and security, basic maintenance and capital upgrades.

Midlothian Independent School District serves students in grades Pre-K-12. Located just 30 miles south of Dallas and Fort Worth, MISD is frequently cited by residents as the key reason for moving to Midlothian. Students attend one of 11 campuses: 7 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 2 high schools.

The vision of Midlothian ISD is to inspire excellence today to change the world tomorrow.  For weekly enrollment reports, quarterly demographic reports or more information about MISD, visit or contact us at or 972.775.8296.
