Midlothian, TX, March 30, 2017- Midlothian Independent School District announces that Mr. Gary L. Gates, M.A.T., M.Ed., has been named principal at Midlothian High School. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the recommendation at the special called board meeting today.
“We are very excited to welcome Mr. Gates to the MISD family. Not only did he come highly recommended, he possesses the qualities and characteristics that MHS staff and parents asked for in a high school principal, states Dr. Lane Ledbetter, Superintendent of Schools. Careful consideration was given to the hundreds of survey responses submitted and conversations administration had with parents and staff over the past few months. Mr. Gates’s experience and perspective will be an asset to our team of principals, and I am confident that his passion for educational leadership and student success will be welcomed at Midlothian High School.”
Autumn Riley, English teacher and campus mentor at MHS served on the interview team and shares this about Mr. Gates, “All of his experiences in Mansfield will be a huge asset to us because he has worked in a district with more than one high school. He is humble, very down-to-earth, is a principal for teachers, and not afraid of hard work.”

He has also held the positions of Facilities Associate Principal and Assistant Principal at Lake Ridge High School, Mansfield ISD High School Summer School Administrator, and Mathematics Teacher and Coach at Mansfield High School.
