Latest COVID-19 Update from Dr. Ledbetter
March 20, 2020
Dear MISD Families:
As Friday comes to a close and we begin school on Monday, March 23, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our parents and community for your incredible support and encouragement. Our Board of Trustees, teachers and staff are touched by the care and concern you have for the children we serve.
Throughout the week as we have held online teacher meetings to shift from a physical learning environment to a distance learning environment at home, I have been amazed at the ingenuity, creative and innovative work of our teachers. As someone said it best, “Our teachers have Apollo 13’d education in HOURS. Literally, HOURS.” MISD has been well-positioned as each student is provided a district-issued device. This has allowed us to shift quickly and provide ongoing educational opportunities during this time. If you see a teacher or have an opportunity to email a teacher, I encourage you to take a moment and thank them. There is no doubt that we have the best and brightest teachers in the state and nation.
As we continue to partner in educating your child during these unprecedented times, our goal is to continue providing you - our parents - support at home. We hope you were able to watch our Facebook LIVE parent orientation today. If not, these sessions can still be viewed on our MISD Facebook page and are posted on our website here. During this parent orientation, we walked through the at-home learning portal. To visit this portal, click here. This is only a resource for our parents. Our teachers are teaching each school day.
Next week, we will host a couple of Facebook LIVE parent meetings. These will also be posted on our website if you miss them. These meetings will be on:
- Wednesday, March 25 at noon: Supporting your child’s emotional needs
- Postponed - Class of 2020 Senior meeting with students and parents
As you may know, we are continuing to provide nutritious meals to all MISD students, and we are excited to announce we are adding new locations beginning Monday, March 23 to best serve our families. Each location will have a grab-and-go breakfast and lunch from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday - Friday.
- J.A. Vitovsky Elementary - 333 Church Street, Midlothian, TX 76065
- Jenkins Daycare parking lot - 315 East Ave. E, Midlothian, Texas 76065
- MISD bus delivery serving the Village South neighborhood
- MISD bus delivery serving the Buffalo Hills neighborhood
Again, on behalf of all MISD, thank you. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We have amazing teachers, staff, students, parents and community. We are stronger together and we will become even more ‘Midlothian Strong’ in the coming days and weeks. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email email@example.com. We are collecting all questions and trying to get answers as quickly as possible and post on our district’s website.
