Have you ever wondered what it takes to run a multi-million dollar organization, with nearly 1,000 employees serving nearly 10,000 of our community’s youngest stakeholders?
We aren’t talking about AT&T, American Airlines, or any other of the countless Fortune 500 companies calling the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex home. In fact, one of the largest employers in Ellis County isn’t a company at all. It is the Midlothian Independent School District, and the district wants to invite community members INSIDE (Interested Neighbors Staying Informed of District Efforts) to get an in-depth and behind the scenes look at how MISD operates. Community members get a unique perspective on how the district makes major decisions that impact students, teachers and staff, parents and the community.
“This is an exciting opportunity for any parent or community member to get an insider’s view of the dynamic decision-making process by participating in simulation challenges, engaging in deep conversations on key topics, as well as touring facilities that most people don’t get to see,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Ledbetter said. “But most importantly, this is a great opportunity to meet and build relationships with friends across MISD.”
This year, MISD will offer this leadership program virtually during the fall giving everyone the opportunity to participate in the comfort of their home or work place. The district hopes that the program can continue meeting in-person during the spring semester but that will be determined at a later date based on the latest COVID-19 data.
INSIDE participants get to know the district’s leadership team, principals, teachers and students. Overall, the three goals of INSIDE MISD includes:
• Continuing to foster a single community philosophy
• Acting as a conduit to the many neighborhoods MISD serves
• Engaging the community in an open dialogue about challenges facing MISD and getting different viewpoints on making decisions
Each session is scheduled from 8:30-10:30 a.m. covering a different area of the district. Below lists the dates for the 2020-21 year.
To ensure we have space for anyone who is interested in participating, fill out our form here. There is no cost to participate. The deadline to join is September 9.
