Meet the Interim Superintendent

Dr. Courtney Carpenter serves as the Interim Superintendent for Midlothian ISD. She is dedicated to moving our district forward through the spring and summer and preparing us for a new school year while our Board conducts the Superintendent Search and our transition to a new leader.

Dr. Carpenter has been with MISD for the past 13 years and has most recently served as the Chief Administrative Officer. She has overseen leadership development, district-wide professional development and has headed the creation of MISD’s COVID-19 protocols and school reopening plan.

She brings a wealth of experience to this role in MISD. Dr. Carpenter has over 20 years of experience in education with eight years teaching secondary math, five years serving as an assistant principal, six years as a campus principal at T.E. Baxter Elementary and Dolores W. McClatchey Elementary before she transitioned to the district-level as a leader in our Department of Learning and later became our Chief Administrative Officer.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University, her Masters of Educational Administration from the University of North Texas and her Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. 

Dr. Carpenter is involved with many organizations committed to advancing public education in the state of Texas including the Association of Texas Professional Educators, the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Future-Ready Superintendent Leadership Network.

She and her husband Craig have been married for 22 years. Their daughter Kelsey is a 2020 MISD graduate who is currently attending and playing volleyball for the University of Texas at San Antonio, and their son Kasen currently attends Heritage High School.
