Meet the Superintendent
Dr. Jo Ann Fey joins Midlothian ISD as our Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Fey comes to MISD from Southwest ISD where she is known for her unwavering dedication to students, teachers, staff, and their families for over 25 years. In her 26th year in education, she also has a reputation for her commitment to excellence and brings that passion for inspiring excellence to the MISD community.
As an encourager and supporter of teachers and students, Dr. Fey values the need for a well-rounded education and understands the importance of finding academic, co-curricular and extracurricular balance in a student’s life. Balance allows students to grow as learners and leaders in all areas of life. This balance was and is important in her own life as she pursued excellence in the classroom, graduating with honors, and on the field as a student-athlete.
With a laser focus on what is best for students, Dr. Fey is excited to lead our district through its rapid growth to ensure MISD continues to provide incredible opportunities for every child. This educational philosophy is evident throughout her professional career. As an Assistant Superintendent in SWISD for seven years, she had an array of experience in human resources, curriculum and instruction as well as principal and teacher leadership development. During that time, she opened a ninth-grade center, a second high school and a STEM specialty school. Prior to serving as an Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Fey led a school turnaround effort at a high school with more than 3,500 students.
Earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Southern Methodist University, her Master of Arts in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, a second Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an Instructional Technology focus from Houston Baptist University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, Dr. Fey truly embodies a life-long learner. Dr. Fey graduated from SWISD in 1989 and then returned to the district to begin her career in education. In addition to her campus and district level leadership experience, she taught CTE classes and coached basketball in SWISD.
Dr. Fey and her husband are excited to join Midlothian ISD professionally and personally as her youngest daughter will enroll in the district. Dr. Fey’s husband is a civil engineer, her son is a graduating senior at Texas A&M in Kingsville, her oldest daughter is completing her first year at Rice University in Houston, and her youngest daughter is completing her freshman year of high school.
