Trustees announce Superintendent Lone Finalist
The Midlothian ISD Board of Trustees unanimously named Dr. David Belding as the Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools and the district’s next leader.
“Through the process of selecting a new superintendent, the board has remained committed to finding a leader who aligns with our vision, mission and priorities outlined in our Balanced Scorecard,” said MISD Board President Tami Tobey. “Dr. Belding brings a plethora of experience that aligns with the feedback we have received from our community and staff.”

Interim Superintendent Dr. Karen Rue will continue to lead MISD through the 21-day waiting period required by Texas law that begins when a superintendent is announced as the lone finalist. The MISD Board of Trustees is expected to vote on the final selection of Dr. David Belding as Superintendent at its September 18 board meeting with a potential start date of October 2.

A Note From the Board President
Although the Board of Trustees was saddened on a personal level to learn of the naming of Dr. Jo Ann Fey as a lone finalist at Killeen ISD, we wish her the best in her new role. We are optimistic about the opportunities the next season will bring to MISD.
The Board’s vision and goals remain the same. We are committed to finding an amazing new leader who will empower our teachers and students and continue to propel us toward academic excellence.

On June 19, 2023, the MISD Board unanimously voted to name Dr. Karen Rue as interim superintendent of the district while the Board works diligently to search for a new superintendent. She will begin working with the district on July 1, 2023.
