Academic Planning Overview
COVID-19 is a rapidly changing situation and the below information is subject to change based upon additional guidance from TEA and state officials.
- Will parents be able to choose between Face-to-Face and Virtual Learning?
- What will the Virtual Learning and Face-to-Face schedules look like?
- Can students change their commitment from Virtual Learning to Face to Face Learning or vice versa after the start of the school year?
- What is the difference between synchronous and asynchronous virtual learning?
- Will the teachers of the Virtual Learning and Face-to-Face classrooms be the same?
- Will grading be different between Face-to-Face instruction and Virtual Learning?
- Will those who choose Virtual Learning be able to "retake" tests and other grades similar to At-Home Learning in the spring?
- Will a student’s choice to participate in Face-to-Face instruction or Virtual Learning be noted on their transcript?
- Will the school year calendar be changed to reflect an intercessional calendar provided as an option from TEA?
- Will there be STAAR testing in the 2020-21 school year?
- Does Midlothian ISD plan to change its truancy or attendance policies?
- If students select Virtual Learning, are teachers trained to make learning engaging for students virtually?
- If my child chooses the Virtual Learning model, how will I know that they are learning and being prepared for the following school year?
- How will teachers address any potential learning needs from the school closure last spring?
- What is the plan for special education students?
- How will ranking and GPA work with some students in Virtual Learning and others in Face-to-Face instruction? How will the District ensure that it remains fair and equal for all students?
- How will dual credit classes be handled?
- Will elementary students still have specials (Art, PE, Music)?
- How will PPCD/PreK be managed during this time?
