YMCA After School Care

The YMCA Childcare Program is an after school childcare service offered at all eight MISD elementary schools. The program serves children in ages 4-12, with care available from school dismissal until 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The YMCA maintains a staff to child ratio of 1 teacher per 15 kids. The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and conforms to the strict standards of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

Children are provided with a healthy snack, an opportunity to complete homework, guided activities which follow an intentionally aligned curriculum with TEKS and HEPA standards, special projects and culminating events such as Braingames and International Festival, arts and crafts, and indoor/outdoor recreational play under the supervision of trained YMCA staff. We have an underlying goal, which seeks to provide a happy atmosphere, develop positive self-esteem in children, strengthen self-discipline, stimulate self-expression, and to help build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
