Gifted and Talented

The Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted and Talented Students defines the gifted student as a child or youth performing or showing the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment, and who:

  • Exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
  • Possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
  • Excels in a specific academic field. (Texas Education Code 29.121; 1995)

Midlothian ISD provides a program for students in grades K-12 who have been identified as exceptionally able. The Gifted and Talented Program at all levels is designed to provide opportunities to meet unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students.

Elementary Gifted & Talented Referrals for Spring 2020

Midlothian ISD provides a program for students in K-12 who have been identified as exceptionally able. The Gifted and Talented Program at all levels is designed to provide opportunities to meet unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students.  Referrals for the Gifted and Talented Program may be made by parents, teachers, students, counselors, or community members. Once assessments are complete, parents will be notified in writing of results.

Parents may request a referral packet by contacting your child’s teacher or school counselor. If you have questions regarding referral or testing for the GT program, please contact your child’s counselor. 

There will be a GT Parent Information Meeting on November 19, 2019 at 5:30 at the Midlothian ISD Administration Building Board Room. All parents interested are invited to attend. There will also be GT Parent Information Meetings held at each campus providing the same information.
