Mental health awareness is important for all educators, parents, and community partners. It is important for educational professionals to recognize the impact that a student's mental health has on learning and achievement. Schools play a critical role in supporting student mental health and well-being in proactively, comprehensively, and collaboratively. There are many ways to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues such as talking openly about mental health and increasing awareness. Training educational professionals in identification of early signs of mental health issues as well as how to support and respond to youth are key to addressing student’s needs properly. Finally, providing healthy tools and strategies for students through direct support services can provide a positive impact for students’ overall well-being.
