ESSA Consolidated Federal Grant
The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Section 8306(a)(7) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Program-Specific Provisions and Assurances requires school districts to receive public comment before the ESSA Consolidated Federal Grant Application is submitted to TEA. MISD is projecting to submit the 2023-2024 ESSA Consolidated Federal Grant Application on Thursday, June 15, 2023, for the following grants listed below. The public comment period ends June 13, 2023. Title I, Part A |
Title I, Part A provides supplemental resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families by providing a high-quality education that will enable all children to meet the state’s student performance standards. Title I, Part A supports schools in implementing either a school-wide program or a targeted assistance program. These programs must use effective methods and instructional strategies that are grounded in scientifically based research |

Title II, Part A |
Title II, Part A is to increase student achievement through improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools. The funds are used for recruitment, hiring and retention strategies. The program uses scientifically based professional development interventions and holds districts and schools accountable for improvements in student academic performance. |

Title III, Part A |
Title III, Part A is used to develop programs for limited English proficient students to attain English at high levels in core academic subjects to meet state mandated achievement performance standards. |

Title III, Part A IMM |
Title III, Part A Immigrant is to develop programs for immigrant children to attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment, and meet the state content standards and student achievement standards. |

Title IV, Part A |
Title IV, Part A – SSAE is to improve students' academic achievement by providing all students with access to a well-rounded education; improve school conditions for student learning; and improve the use of technology. The overarching goal of Title IV, Part A, is to increase the capacity of state education agencies, local educational agencies (LEAs), campuses, and communities to meet the following three goals: Provide all students access to a well-rounded education. Improve academic outcomes by maintaining safe and healthy students. Improve the use of technology to advance student academic achievement. |
