Mr. Gary Gates

Mr. Gary Gates is in his third year as Principal of Midlothian High School. He has a wife Jamie and four children: Oakley (22) is a Nurse, Eeaston (18) is a Senior at Midlothian High School, Ava (14) is a freshman at Midlothian High School, and Harlowe (5) just started kindergarten.  Mr. Gates previously spent 9 years in Mansfield ISD. His first 4 years were at Mansfield High School where he taught Math and coached Football/Basketball. When Mansfield Lake Ridge High School opened in 2012, he moved into administration as an Assistant Principal. Over the next 5 years Mr. Gates moved into the role as the Facilities Associate Principal, followed by Academic Associate Principal, before being named as the Principal of MHS.

Mr. Gates began his career at Duncan High School in Duncan, Oklahoma where he served as a High School Math teacher and Coach before moving to Mansfield.  While at Duncan HS Mr. Gates was the Varsity Assistant for both the Boys Basketball and Baseball programs. This school year marks Mr. Gates’ 17th year in education.

Mr. Gates earned his Bachelor Degree from Cameron University in Lawton, OK, where he spent time on the Aggie Basketball team and was also a 4 year letter winner on the Aggie Baseball team.  As a member of the Aggie Baseball team Mr. Gates was selected for both the All-Conference and Academic All-Conference teams.  Mr. Gates completed his Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Cameron University prior to starting his career in education. While teaching at Mansfield High, Mr. Gates additionally earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
