MISD Board Names Georgie Swize as Mt. Peak Elementary Principal

Midlothian ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved Dr. Georgie Swize as Mt. Peak Elementary principal. Currently, Swize serves as the principal of Cora Spencer Elementary in Mansfield ISD.

“We are excited to have Dr. Swize as the new Mt. Peak Elementary principal and welcome her to our MISD family,” Dr. Lane Ledbetter, superintendent of schools said. “She will foster an environment where every child feels inspired and supported to grow their unlimited potential.”

Swize has served in public school education for 21 years. She began her career in Maypearl ISD teaching and coaching. In 2001, Swize moved to Highland Park ISD where she taught 7th and 8th-grade math and coached volleyball and basketball for Highland Park High School. She transitioned into administration in 2011 serving as an assistant principal for both McCulloch Intermediate School and Highland Park Middle School. In 2015, she was named the associate principal for the two campuses and is currently serving as the principal of Cora Spencer Elementary. 

“Midlothian ISD is a premier school district and I am excited to be home,” says Swize. “As a product of MISD, I am proud to now serve the students, families, and community of Mt. Peak Elementary. I can’t wait to meet our MPE family!” 

Dr. Swize earned her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1998 from Mid America Bible College. In 2004, she earned her Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington and soon after completed her principal certification. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership degree from Dallas Baptist University in 2018. Dr. Swize holds State Board of Education certifications in superintendency, principalship, elementary education, and secondary mathematics.
