Get to know Vitovsky's School Counselor, Lori Huff!
In the spirit of Red Ribbon week, what do you like most about your job? I love educating students about how to make safe and positive choices, develop healthy habits now, and how those choices will help them find success in their passions and purpose for their lives in the future.
What's a fun fact about you? I used to be the Charolais Queen of Texas. I currently love fishing and being outside with my family.
What is some advice you'd give to parents for opening a conversation about serious topics? I encourage parents to have open, honest, and developmentally appropriate conversations with their children. Building trust with their children and listening to them about the “little things” so that they feel comfortable coming to them with the big things is key.
Tell me about your school's Red Ribbon days. What's something new or interesting you're doing this year? The theme this year is “Your Future Is Key, So Stay Drug Free.” My favorite activity is having every staff member create a “Keys To My Success” poster to discuss with their students and post outside their door during Red Ribbon week for everyone to see what impact their support systems, failures, successes, and perseverance have had in helping them achieve more successes in pursuing their passions and purpose along their journey.
