MISD Proud Profile The School Board

Get to know the MISD Board of Trustees!

Todd Hemphill - President

What is the best part about serving on the MISD school board?
Making a positive impact on the lives of our students and staff, not only today but for years to come. Every decision we make should always be through the lens of what is best for the district as a whole. We are responsible for 9,000 students and 1,000 staff members, and most always keep the big picture front and center to ensure we provide the resources, direction and future-forward vision for the entire MISD.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?
History. I enjoyed most of my classes (except for maybe, calculus), and debate would be a close second, but I love learning about all kinds of history - Texas, US and world history.

What's a fun fact about you?
I have had the opportunity to visit nearly 50 countries through personal and business travel. The world is a fascinating place, but we are beyond blessed to live in the USA, and especially the great state of Texas!

Matt Sanders - Vice President

What is the best part about serving on the MISD school board?
I wanted to be on the Board to serve my community and give back. The best part about serving on the Board is watching the wonderful work being done by our support staff, maintenance staff, custodial staff, administrators, food staff, safety personnel, coaches, transportation department, all the volunteer groups, booster clubs, and especially our teachers! Being able to know the inner workings of what I call a $75,000,000 human investment corporation and the incredible amount of work it takes to provide everything for almost 9,000 kids and over 1,000 employees is very fulfilling. I have the opportunity to help make some decisions that will hopefully improve the chances for success, but the majority of work is done by these groups of people and the students themselves.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?
I enjoyed math in school very much. I preferred problem-solving types of math like finance and statistical analysis. These subjects were appealing because I knew that was how the business world was going to work. It has paid off well during my career path.

What's a fun fact about you?
I love to have lots of fun with my family. We try to travel as much as we can, and we enjoy golfing, skiing and going to the beach. I was lucky to play golf in my younger days with numerous athletes including PGA Tour players, Texas Rangers, many Dallas Cowboys, four NFL coaches (one currently in NFC Championship!), the creator of the Muppets, and even Adam West, the original Batman!

Stewart Domke - Secretary

What is the best part about serving on the MISD school board?
The best part about serving on the MISD school board is having the opportunity to help make decisions that affect students, teachers, and administration in a positive way. I’m proud to say that I serve an awesome school district from which I graduated.

What's a fun fact about you?
I've attended MISD as a student and served as a teacher and coach and as a school board member. All three of my girls attended and graduated from MISD. I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of the best school district in Texas for almost 20 years.

What is the best part about serving on the MISD school board?
The best part of serving on the MISD school board is giving back to the community that I truly love. Working together with my fellow board members, administration, teachers and staff, we serve the public and stand for our students of Midlothian. I am honored to serve on our Midlothian ISD school board.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?
My favorite subject in school was accounting, which I took at Midlothian High School with Mrs. Dean as my teacher. It was in this introduction to accounting that I discovered what I wanted to pursue in college and beyond.

What's a fun fact about you?
I was born and raised in Midlothian, as were several generations of my family before me (and I’m now raising my own children here). One of our school facilities bears the name of my great aunt, Laura Jenkins.

Tami Tobey

What is the best part about serving on the MISD school board?
Hands down, serving the educators and students has been the best part of serving on the MISD school board. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to impact learning for our kids in this complex season of digital implementation. Figuring out the dynamic balance of digital-to-human interaction in educating our kids is vital to their success. I also truly love when we can have a hand in improving the work environment for our educators. Both student success and teacher appreciation are vital to our local, state and global economy.

What was your favorite subject in school and why?
Math has always been my favorite subject. I fell in love with it when I realized numbers could actually tell a story, solve a mystery and even offer clues to human values. The proof and priority are always in the numbers.

What's a fun fact about you?
We are a family of T’s - Tim, Tami, Tyler, Tanner, Trevor, and Taylor Tobey. If that isn’t enough, we have two dogs: Texan and Teddy!

What is the best part about serving on the MISD school board?
The best part about serving on the school board is seeing the diversity of people that come together for a common goal–educating and believing in our children! We have people with different talents, ages, experiences, education, languages, backgrounds working as a team, which defines a community!

I am motivated every day by the smiles, energy, and commitment that our teachers and aides dedicate to the love and learning of our children. They go above and beyond pouring themselves into developing them to be the very best!

What was your favorite subject in school and why?
My favorite subject in high school was economics. My teacher was innovative and removed traditional classroom boundaries. We became part of the economy with analysis, predictions, guest speakers and real-life projects. It was a class with everyone sharing opinions and debating current events.

What's a fun fact about you?
During high school and college, I had a wide variety of jobs. I applaud MISD students who work hard to balance school, work and their family!

  • Veterinarians office – vet technician.
  • Fort Worth Mayor Kay Granger's office
  • Brazos County Police Academy – I was paid to be the criminal in police cadet training scenarios.
  • Outdoor Ropes Course Instructor
  • Texas A&M Athletic Department – I was part of the football recruiting team (RC Slocum & The Wrecking Crew!)
