This survey will remain open through March 24. Your voice matters and we want to hear from you on what traits are important to you in the next Superintendent of Schools.
Before our Board begins reviewing resumes and scheduling interviews with candidates, we will review the input from both the survey and input sessions. This will help us identify the best candidates for our district. Our plan is to hold the first interview in early April.
As the next phase of the Superintendent Search process begins, we encourage you and thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts. We believe that with your voice in this process, together we will find the best candidate to serve our children and MISD community.
MISD Board of Trustees
Update - January 28, 2021
Dear MISD Family:
To keep you updated, our Board of Trustees met last night and interviewed two top-notch superintendent search firms. The two firms interviewed included Walsh, Gallegos, Trevino, Russo & Kyle, P.C. and The Texas Association of School Boards.
After a thorough vetting and interview process, our Board unanimously selected Walsh, Gallegos, Trevino, Russo & Kyle, P.C. The Board was impressed with this firm’s outline, credentials and their ability to connect with teachers and staff to gather input. This step is critical in helping the Board develop a Superintendent Profile and interview questions. Our Board’s goal is to ensure this process includes as many stakeholder voices as possible.
Our next step is to finalize the contract and develop a comprehensive timeline for the process that does include community and staff input opportunities. Our Board is ready and excited to begin this next phase of recruiting and hiring a fantastic leader for our district.
On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, thank you for all that you do for our students and their families each and every school day. You - our MISD teachers and staff - along with our students, are top of mind as we embark on this search process.

Update - December 15, 2020
Dear MISD Family:
To keep you updated, our Board of Trustees met last night and unanimously appointed Dr. Courtney Carpenter as our district’s Interim Superintendent. Dr. Carpenter will begin this role effective Monday, January 4.
Dr. Lane Ledbetter has been named Superintendent of Schools for Carroll ISD. His last day in Midlothian ISD is January 3. We wish him well as he returns home to lead the school district he graduated from, as well as started his teaching career.
Dr. Carpenter currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for Midlothian ISD and has overseen leadership development, district-wide professional development and has headed the creation of MISD’s COVID-19 protocols and school reopening plan.
She brings great experience to the role of Interim Superintendent with a vast knowledge of curriculum and instruction from her many years as a campus principal and serving as a leader in our Department of Learning. Our Board of Trustees has the utmost confidence she will help provide a smooth transition while the Board searches for the next MISD Superintendent.
Dr. Carpenter has over 20 years of experience in education with eight years teaching secondary math, five years serving as an assistant principal, six years as a campus principal and four years at the district level, including her current role as Chief Administrative Officer.
Additionally, our Board approved a Superintendent Search timeline and provided direction to the district to post a Request for Proposals for Search firms. As part of this superintendent search process, here is a link with the latest information. We will keep our community informed throughout our Superintendent Search and will regularly update this website with important Board actions and upcoming community input opportunities.
If you are given an opportunity, please take a moment to congratulate Dr. Carpenter. We look forward to working with her during this time of transition.
